Crop, Scale, Rotate

Rotate a Photo

 

  1. Open in image in GIMP. (sample image)
  2. Select the Rotate tool from the Toolbox. 
  3. Click the image and drag or type in a number in the Rotate dialog box.
  4. Click the Rotate button in the Rotate dialog box.
  5. Click the Image menu and choose Autocrop Image.

 

Scale a Photo

 

  1. Select the Scale tool from the Toolbox.
  2. Click the image.
  3. Click the chain icon in the Scale dialog box to lock the aspect ratio. 
  4. Click and drag a corner of the image to scale. 
  5. Click Scale in the dialog box.
  6. Click the Image menu and choose Autocrop Image.
  7. Change the zoom percent at the bottom of the image window to be 100. You may want to scale again. 

 

Crop a Photo 

 

  1. Select the Crop tool from the Toolbox.
  2. Click and drag to select the area of your photo you want to keep.
  3. Adjust your box by clicking and dragging the corners.
  4. Click in the center of the selection to complete the cropping process.

 

Save the Edited Photo

 

  1. Click the File menu and select Save As.
  2. Enter a file name and choose a destination location for the saved file.
  3. Click Select File Type at the bottom of the dialog box to choose JPG, GIF, or PNG.
  4. Click Save and finish the exporting process. Remember JPGs going on websites should be saved at 80% quality.
